As The Collaborative’s director of growth and development, Michael Soekawa brings a high-tech skill set to work every day. A natural-born entrepreneur and creative who has followed his muse from New York City to Raleigh, North Carolina, to Richmond, his career has always been client-centered and service-oriented.

In the increasingly digital realms of real estate, Michael’s expertise is founded firmly in experience and a successful track record. During the advent of the internet in the late 1990s, he started working online in affiliate marketing and designing websites for clients. Using cutting-edge, innovative techniques, he’s well versed in marketing strategy, social media, and online advertising, along with being a former professional photographer in New York City.

Michael’s deep understanding of SEO, content, branding, and investment strategy dovetails with his ability to decipher and navigate the back end of the real estate industry — especially in a fast-moving regional market.

When he’s not focused on helping his team thrive, Michael stays active in his community. He was the president of the River’s Edge Elementary School PTA, overseeing a board of more than 30 volunteers while managing the association’s budget and affairs, fundraising, and helping to organize events. He, his wife Alicia, and their three kids live in Richmond with their two dogs, Ken and Barbie, and Michael is rarely spotted without his Yankees cap.
